AeroPress and Handpresso

Both of these coffee gadgets seemed, well, too much like gadgets. Shockingly each delivered exceptional cups of espresso from an unplugged micro-format. The choice boils down to how hard you want to work and how much you want to spend. Read on for the details…

$25.99 AT THINK GEEK

The Aeropress uses a plunger, gravity and a small disc filter to make a balanced, full flavored cup of espresso. It's super light, makes no noise, is just over $25 and you can use any fine ground coffee bean. (Our test used Alce Nero preground espresso.)

The Handpresso Wild uses a pump that takes about a minute of effort to reach the require pressure, weights about 2lbs., uses coffee pods and runs $99 at Rei. Both travel well; each with unique aesthetics.
